‘Shop Around the Corner’ and ‘You’ve Got Mail’ (based on the former) both have a great fan following and that includes me. Meg Ryan, Tom Hanks and a feel-good romantic flick are all what it takes to get me in a dreamy mood. If you like the movie and fell in love with the pretty little ‘Shop Around the Corner’ run by Kathleen Kelly (Meg Ryan’s character in the movie) with it’s treasure trove of books, toys, trinkets and lovely Christmas decorations, you will definitely want to visit the place in reality on your trip to New York City.

The pretty little store is actually a cheese and antiques shop in Manhattan which was converted into a bookshop for the movie. Maya Schaper Cheese & Antiques is a lovely shop and you will some really good stuff if you like to shop for antiques. You can visit the shop at :

As Fall creeps into my living room, I am busy planning my holiday travel. Although I like to call myself an avid traveler and try to plan vacations as much in advance as possible, I also enjoy another thing that only avid travelers like doing - set out for a journey on an impulse. Right now, however, I am doing neither and simply surfing online endlessly day by day to find some cheap flights that will help me get a good vacation within my budget.

Didn’t I always know that nothing is cheap around holiday time? Of course I did. But yours truly is also a Mom who struggles through her day babysitting and getting homework done from pesky kids and then spends the entire evening trying to decide what to cook for a ’special dinner made up of fresh and healthy ingredients’ before ordering a Pizza. Oh, I am sure you can relate.
