Places to Eat in Greenwich Village, New York

Greenwich Village (or simply ‘the Village’ as New Yorkers call it) is a haven for food lovers and I love that place. Here are some of my recommendations:

1. The Magnolia Bakery does lovely cupcakes and was also featured in ‘Sex and the City’.

2. John’s Pizzeria - Go to this place for the tastiest pizza cooked in a brick oven. This place is for die hard foodies only  and is jam packed, so if you are looking for a place to while away some time, this one’s not for you. You will find it at Bleecker Street.

3. ‘Autumn’ - a bistro/diner that you will love to stop by for lunch.

4. Pennyfeathers Cafe - A small but cosy/comfy place for a simple and tasty breakfast. Some of my friends came out grumpy, but I was served well during my visit.

5. Corner Bistro - A long, long wait in the line for me - but if you find it a little less busy, go in for burgers and fries.

The Shop Around the Corner - Visit the Shop in NYC where it was filmed!

‘Shop Around the Corner’ and ‘You’ve Got Mail’ (based on the former) both have a great fan following and that includes me. Meg Ryan, Tom Hanks and a feel-good romantic flick are all what it takes to get me in a dreamy mood. If you like the movie and fell in love with the pretty little ‘Shop Around the Corner’ run by Kathleen Kelly (Meg Ryan’s character in the movie) with it’s treasure trove of books, toys, trinkets and lovely Christmas decorations, you will definitely want to visit the place in reality on your trip to New York City.

The pretty little store is actually a cheese and antiques shop in Manhattan which was converted into a bookshop for the movie. Maya Schaper Cheese & Antiques is a lovely shop and you will some really good stuff if you like to shop for antiques. You can visit the shop at :

106 West 69th St, Upper West Side, Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA
