We're headed out on vacation this afternoon.

We're going to a local national park, to a friend's family cabin. We've been blessed to enjoy this cabin for about eighteen years now. Since our girls were roughly three and eight.

This will be one of the few times we've ever been there without the kids. Not the first time. But the longest time.

What will we do? What will we talk about?

Hmmm... read all day? Golf? Nap? Enjoy the view from the back deck?

All of the above.

This is also the first time there with a small group. Only four of us. We've had as many as twenty there in the past.

And probably will again, as the kids in all the families marry and procreate.

But the season of hiking while identifying leaves for a science project is over. This season isn't better or worse, just different.

We're looking forward to it. A new kind of vacation.
